The St. Dominic Saints will face off against the Maine Central Institute Huskies at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. St. Dominic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.
On Friday, St. Dominic got the win against Sacopee Valley by a conclusive 15-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Saints.
Emily Andrews and Madeline Andrews made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Andrews tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Madeline pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Emily has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Andrews went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Madeline went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Chloe Croteau was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Piper Croteau, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
St. Dominic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Maine Central Institute had just enough and edged out North Yarmouth Academy 7-6 on Friday.
Maine Central Institute secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Jyllian Riendeau, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. That hit was Riendeau's first of the season.
Maine Central Institute now has a winning record of 3-2. As for St. Dominic, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Maine Central Institute's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: St. Dominic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. It's a different story for Maine Central Institute, though, as they've only averaged .172. Will they be able to contain St. Dominic's hitters?
Everything went St. Dominic's way against Maine Central Institute when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as St. Dominic made off with a 17-5 win. Will the Saints repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
