Prairie State recap Oct. 23, 2012
Marquette Catholic extended the longest winning streak in Prairie State this week by beating Metro-East Lutheran, 59-0. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Marquette Catholic led the league in scoring this week after putting up 59 points on the Knights.
Nokomis/Ramsey/Lincolnwood's dynamic duo of Luke Hamlin and Austin Chausse proved tough for South Fork/Edinburg/Morrisonville to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hamlin threw for 159 yards and one touchdown and Chausse had 54 yards receiving. Devon Wright helped Nokomis/Ramsey/Lincolnwood's passing attack out by catching two balls for 38 yards.
Brandon Ellington was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 15 carries, he ran for 131 yards as Mt. Olive topped the Ponies. Teammate Brenden O'Neal added to the ground attack by rushing for 58 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Hamlin and Chausse Nokomis/Ramsey/Lincolnwood has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Hamlin leads the league in passing with 840 yards, while Chausse has rushed for 1162 yards this season. Bunker Hill's Ike Jackson leads the league in receiving yards with 366 on 17 catches.
Decatur Lutheran made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 14,277 from 14,371. The improvement came about via a 46-12 victory over the Minutemen last week.
