Providence Hall has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Carbon Dinos at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Providence Hall focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Providence Hall strolled past Waterford with points to spare, taking the game 60-46.
Dallin Wells was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Those 15 rebounds set a new season-high mark for he. Another player making a difference was Dawson McDermaid, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 15 to 5 on the offensive boards, a fact Carbon proved on Friday. They came out on top against North Sevier by a score of 54-46. That looming 54-46 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Carbon yet this season.
Carbon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryker Butler out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Butler also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Kahner Raby was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Providence Hall's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Carbon, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.
Wednesday's match is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Providence Hall have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 31.1 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Carbon, though, as they've been averaging only 34.6 rebounds per game. Given Providence Hall's sizeable advantage in that area, Carbon will need to find a way to close that gap.
Providence Hall lost to Carbon on the road by a decisive 63-45 margin when the teams last played back in January. Can Providence Hall avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
