Mountain View is 0-6 against South Summit since March of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Bruins are taking a road trip to face off against the Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. Mountain View has given up an average of 7.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Friday just wasn't the day for Mountain View's offense. They came up short against Spanish Fork on Friday, falling 17-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Bruins were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Summit). They put the hurt on Ogden with a sharp 23-8 victory on Wednesday. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 7.3 runs per game.
Brinley Teeples was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Adeline Aste was incredible, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ireland Ellis, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
South Summit kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.2.
South Summit's record is now 4-10. As for Mountain View, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Mountain View might still be hurting after the 14-2 defeat they got from South Summit in their previous meeting back in March of 2020. Can the Bruins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
