The biggest upset of the week belonged to Streamwood, who took down 194th ranked Streamwood, 31-14.
Nick Derr and Kyle Brown provided fans with a highlight when they connected against East. The connection was good for 77 yards, the longest such play in Upstate Eight - River this season.
Geneva's dynamic duo of Derr and Brown proved tough for the Fighting Saints to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Derr threw for 175 yards and two touchdowns and Brown had 140 yards receiving. Kevin Dunlop helped Geneva's passing attack out by catching one ball for 21 yards.
Jaylen Clemons was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 16 carries, he ran for 201 yards as Elgin fell to East. Malik Dunner also contributed to the rushing game with 107 yards on the ground.
Jake Boser made the biggest impact on defense this week as Geneva lost to Mike Fields's team. The 5-foot-10 defensive lineman grabbed one sack.
Batavia's Micah Coffey and Zachary Strittmatter have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Coffey has thrown for 1118 yards this season, while Strittmatter, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 35 catches for 557 yards. Bobby Hess from Frank Martin's team leads the league in rushing with 852 yards.
A big matchup in Upstate Eight - River this week will be when the Bulldogs take on North. At the moment, Batavia is in first, while the North Stars are in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Dennis Piron's team takes on North. The Bulldogs have allowed 105 points this season, while Mark Gould's team has given up 87. Batavia allowed 0 points last week as it bested Larkin.
The Bulldogs extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Royals, 48-0. The win marks sixth in a row for the Batavia.
