Crete had won six straight on the road, but  on Thursday they bumped up to 12-2 to make it seven. They blew past the Aurora Huskies 14-6. Considering the Cardinals have won eight matchups by more than five  runs this season, Thursday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Madynn Dunham made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she  struck out six batters over  seven innings while giving up  five earned  (and one unearned) runs off   12  hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks any time she's  pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box,  firing off two  home runs and three  RBI while going 3-for-4.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Kacey Dunaway, who  got on base  in four of her five plate appearances with two  stolen bases and three  runs. That's the most  stolen bases  she has posted  over her last 14  games. Another player making a difference was  Camry Draeger, who  went 1-for-4 with two  stolen bases, three  RBI,  and one  run.
As for Aurora, their  loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-6. They haven't had much luck with Crete recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
 On Aurora's side,  Ashlyn Kottwitz and  Vivi Fahrnbruch stepped up to the plate in a big way.  Kottwitz  went 3-for-4 with one  home run, two  runs,  and two  RBI, while  Fahrnbruch  went 3-for-4 with one  home run, two  runs,  and two  RBI.  Novella Stevens also deserves some recognition as  she  hit her first  double of the season.
 Crete wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next  contest,  a  10-0  victory against O'Neill on the 13th. As for Aurora, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Adams Central  at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday.
