After three games on the road, North Cross is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Westover Christian Academy Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Cross has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
North Cross scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They skirted past Fredericksburg Christian 85-82. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
North Cross relied on the efforts of Jesiah Hines, who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds and six assists, and Antonio Mack, who scored 37 points along with five rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Hines has scored at least 25% of North Cross' points. Jaziel Hart was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Westover Christian Academy humbled Oak Level Baptist Academy with a 69-22 victory. With that victory, Westover Christian Academy brought their scoring average up to 51 points per game.
Among those leading the charge was Malachai Waller, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Keeley Bettendorf, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
North Cross' win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Westover Christian Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. North Cross hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 62.8 points per game. It's a different story for Westover Christian Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 51 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
North Cross took their win against Westover Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 66-45. Will North Cross repeat their success, or does Westover Christian Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
