Madison Keith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, East Wake got a massive performance out of Madison Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Smith also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Jaimee Fowler was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
East Wake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .708. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hunt only posted an OBP of .429.
Meanwhile, Southern Wayne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Princeton, falling 17-0.
Southern Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for East Wake, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Southern Wayne's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: East Wake hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .420. It's a different story for Southern Wayne, though, as they've only averaged .230. Will they be able to contain East Wake's hitters?
