Ballou has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Woodson Warriors at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Ballou faced Jackson-Reed in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Ballou walked away with a 14-7 win over Jackson-Reed.
Among those leading the charge was Kelvin Hewitt, who rushed for 40 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 130 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Woodson waltzed into Friday's game with three straight wins but they left with four. They took down Eastern 22-6.
William Simmons and Dallas Allen-Hall were among the main playmakers for Woodson as the former rushed for 87 yards and two touchdowns and the latter rushed for 47 yards and a touchdown. Simmons has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played.
Ballou's victory bumped their record up to 5-5. As for Woodson, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Ballou lost to Woodson on the road by a decisive 28-14 margin when the teams last played two weeks ago. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Woodson's Simmons, who rushed for 275 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Now that Ballou knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
