The McDermitt Bulldogs won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 68-48 walloping at the hands of Owyhee. McDermitt has not had much luck with the Braves recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Shandon Camas and Warrick Crutcher certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Camas dropped a double-double on 16 points and 21 rebounds, while Crutcher scored 14 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Camas hasn't dropped below two blocks for eight straight games.
Even though they lost, McDermitt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. This was only their tenth loss (out of 12 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
It was another big night for Dishaun George-Smith, who scored 29 points for Owyhee. As a matter of fact, that's the most points George-Smith has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Smartt, who scored 14 points.
McDermitt dropped their record down to 3-16 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Owyhee, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Carlin the next time they take the court. McDermitt will host the Railroaders at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Braves will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
