Thornwood has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Crete-Monee Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Thornwood will be strutting in after a victory while Crete-Monee will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Monday, Thornwood beat Perspectives Leadership by the very same score they won with last week: 35-30.
Thornwood relied on the efforts of Akylah Fulton, who scored 9 points along with 7 rebounds, and Katlynn Williams-clark, who scored 18 points along with 5 steals. The contest was Williams-clark's sixth in a row with at least ten points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 82-20, which was the final score in Crete-Monee's tilt against Bolingbrook on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Crete-Monee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 438th, while Bolingbrook is ranked eighth).
Thornwood now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Crete-Monee, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.
Everything went Thornwood's way against Crete-Monee when the teams last played back in January as Thornwood made off with a 57-31 win. Will Thornwood repeat their success, or does Crete-Monee have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
