Annville-Cleona and Pequea Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Dutchmen will head out to square off against the Braves at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Annville-Cleona is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Annville-Cleona took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over Columbia. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Dutchmen considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Traian Dompier was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colten Shaffer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Annville-Cleona is undefeated when Shaffer posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Zac Frentz was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Annville-Cleona lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Pequea Valley came up short against Lancaster Catholic on Monday and fell 6-1.
Pequea Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dominick Burrell, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Burrell has hit this season.
Annville-Cleona pushed their record up to 8-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pequea Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.
Annville-Cleona skirted past Pequea Valley 1-0 when the teams last played two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dutchmen since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
