South Newton has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on The North Judson-San Pierre Bluejays at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, South Newton took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 64-6 win over Bowman Academy.
Evyn Krug continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 247 yards and six touchdowns on only 15 carries. Krug is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Lucas Bogucki got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
North Judson-San Pierre fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They blew past Pioneer 40-14.
Jesiah McDaniel was a one-man wrecking crew for North Judson-San Pierre as he rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries, and also threw for 84 yards and a touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes. McDaniel was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 62 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kole Wilcox, who gained 124 total yards and a touchdown.
South Newton's victory pushed their record up to 4-6, while North Judson-San Pierre's bumped their own up to the opposite: 6-4.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. South Newton has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 164.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like North Judson-San Pierre struggles in that department as they've been even better at 267.9 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
South Newton took a serious blow against North Judson-San Pierre when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 74-6. Thankfully for South Newton, Cheyenne Allen (who rushed for 146 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
