The Ripley Tigers will take on the Lakeland Preparatory Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for Ripley: they have been struggling with eight straight losses at home, while Lakeland Preparatory has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
Ripley came up short against Milan on Tuesday, falling 9-1.
Ripley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Caldwell, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, while Lakeland Preparatory put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Memphis Business Academy. The Lions were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Execs. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by ten runs or more this season.
Bryce Thomas looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.
On the hitting side, Lakeland Preparatory let Peeler Easton and Wyatt Helton run wild. Easton went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Helton went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jack McDaniel, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Lakeland Preparatory always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Memphis Business Academy only posted an OBP of .200.
Ripley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Lakeland Preparatory, their victory bumped their record up to 19-2.
Ripley took their win against Lakeland Preparatory in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-2 score. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
