Midland Christian is 3-0 against Southwest Christian School since October of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Midland Christian Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Southwest Christian School Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Midland Christian never got on the board in their matchup back in October, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Fort Worth Christian two weeks ago. They blew past the Cardinals, posting a 52-21 win on the road.
Midland Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brylee Perez, who rushed for 167 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry, and also picked up 42 receiving yards. Perez's longest rush was for an incredible 97 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Newsom, who rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown.
Midland Christian's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Isaiah Mathews and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Southwest Christian School beat Fort Worth Christian 27-21 on Friday.
Southwest Christian School found their leader in underclassman Bourke Toler, who rushed for 160 yards and a touchdown.
Midland Christian's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Southwest Christian School, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
