Hayden Peebles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Raven Watson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jazmine Ramos-Merced, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Baldwin hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, North Bay Haven Academy has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 2.19 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bozeman, sneaking past 13-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Buccaneers have posted since February 25th.
Kaylee Goodpaster was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Nevaeh Tarr was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one double.
North Bay Haven Academy pushed their record up to 23-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Baldwin, their victory bumped their record up to 20-7.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Baldwin hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like North Bay Haven Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .405. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Baldwin's way against North Bay Haven Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2023, as Baldwin made off with a 15-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
