After flying high against Jersey Village  last Friday, Stratford came back down to earth. The Spartans fell just short of the Cy-Fair Bobcats by a score of  31-28 on Saturday. The  defeat   continues a  trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Bobcats: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Stratford lost, don't look at  Gavin Guzman. Despite the final result, he threw for 255 yards and three  TDs, and also rushed for 34 yards.  Davis Kendall was another key player, gaining 69 total yards and two touchdowns.
 Even if they lost, Stratford's defensive line still kept up the pressure with six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by  Callan Kirk and  Matthew Bednar, who racked up  five sacks between them.
 Leading Cy-Fair to victory were  Sean Riegler and  Arnell Fontenot.  Riegler threw for 328 yards and a pair of  touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, while  Fontenot rushed for 120 yards and one  score. The Bobcats are undefeated when  Fontenot posts 80 or  more  rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.  Henry Lamar Brooks Jr also helped out with an impressive 80  receiving yards.
Stratford now  has a losing record of 3-4. As for Cy-Fair, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record  this season.
 Stratford will head out to  square off against Cypress Falls  at 11:00  a.m.  on Saturday. The Spartans will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least 31  points  in their last three matchups. As for Cy-Fair, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next  contest,  a  52-32  win against Cypress Creek on the 23rd.
