Douglas County is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 50-44 heartbreaker at the hands of Arapahoe. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 197th, while the Warriors are ranked ninth).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Roman Saiz, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Dale, who posted 13 points.
Meanwhile, Regis Jesuit came tearing into Monday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 70-64 win over the Bruins.
Regis Jesuit's win came from a few key players Douglas County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Eric Fiedler, who went 10 of 24 on his way to 31 points and five rebounds. The match was his 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Dickinson, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.
Regis Jesuit was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Regis Jesuit has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.4 points per game. As for Douglas County, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Douglas County has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 23.2 boards per game.
