The McCutcheon Mavericks scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They strolled past Logansport with points to spare, taking the game 68-52. The win was a breath of fresh air for McCutcheon as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
McCutcheon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brody Raeke led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Brody Baker was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Logansport's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacob Taylor, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Taylor pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Dubes, who scored eight points along with two steals.
McCutcheon's win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-10. As for Logansport, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
McCutcheon will be playing in front of their home fans against Benton Central at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Benton Central is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. Logansport won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lewis Cass at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: L.j. Hillis and Taylor.
