The Veritas Prep Falcons will challenge the Santa Cruz Valley Dust Devils at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Veritas Prep's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over ALA - Anthem South. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Falcons considering their two-run performance the game before.

Mason Bushard was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Veritas Prep is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6 otherwise. Bushard was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Connor Huseth and Tico Lentz did most of the damage at the plate: Huseth went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases and two runs, while Lentz got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two runs gave Huseth a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kellan Jacobs, who earned two RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Veritas Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Santa Cruz Valley won against ALA - Anthem South on Wednesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Dust Devils didn't even let Tempe Prep on the board, marking the Dust Devils' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Dust Devils, who have now won eight matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Santa Cruz Valley is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Veritas Prep, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Veritas Prep came up short against Santa Cruz Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2021, falling 9-5. Will the Falcons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
