Softball Recap: Meyersdale Has No Trouble Against Rockwood

Meyersdale won the last time they faced Rockwood and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Red Raiders were the clear victors by a 15-6 margin over the Rockets. The result was nothing new for the Red Raiders, who have now won seven contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Isabella Sleasman made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Amber Long was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Jessica Daughton was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.

Meyersdale lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Meyersdale and bumps their season record up to 8-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Rockwood, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Meyersdale will face off against Windber at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Rockwood, they will challenge North Star at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Rockets are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
