Chaminade hasn't had much luck against Saugus recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Chaminade Eagles will challenge the Saugus Centurions at 1:00 p.m. Chaminade is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Chaminade came up short against Paraclete and fell 10-6.
Finley Suppan put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those RBI were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Norah Pettersen was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run. Kathleen Katz also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.
Meanwhile, Saugus got themselves on the board against Royal on Saturday, but Royal never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Highlanders with a sharp 8-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Centurions.
Jordan Shepherd was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Savanna Smith was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Saugus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Royal only posted an OBP of .167.
Saugus' record now sits at 2-0. As for Chaminade, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Chaminade came up short against Saugus in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, falling 4-1. Can Chaminade avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
