Meanwhile, Naperville North posted their closest victory since May 10, 2024 on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over Naperville Central. The game was the first time the Huskies have beaten the Redhawks on their field since May 4, 2023.
The team relied heavily on Sara Rossi, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Reese Pedersen was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Oswego pushed their record up to 18-0 with the victory, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.9 runs over those games. As for Naperville North, their victory bumped their record up to 4-14.
Naperville North's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Oswego has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Naperville North, though, as they've been averaging 10.1 hits. Given Oswego's sizable advantage in that area, the Huskies will need to find a way to close that gap.
Oswego came up short against Naperville North in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 6-3. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
