The J.P. Stevens Hawks will challenge the South Amboy Governors at 4:00  p.m.  on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Meanwhile, South Amboy fought the good fight in their extra-innings  contest against Metuchen  on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of  8-7. The Governors' defeat continues a  trend for the  team, making it three in a row.
 Vaughn Pelkey put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching six innings while giving up just one earned  (and three unearned) runs off   six  hits. That's the fewest  earned runs  he has allowed since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in four of his five plate appearances with one  run.
 In other batting news,  Diego Col?n was cooking despite his team's loss,   going 4-for-5 with two  runs and one  double.  Benjamin Smith was another key player,  going 2-for-5 with one  run, one  double,  and one  RBI.
 J.P. Stevens has  been struggling recently as they've  lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record  this season. As for South Amboy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
