Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart fell just short of Somerset Academy South Homestead by a score of 11-9.
Grace Diez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Allyson Wolfson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Lourdes Academy came into Friday's matchup having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Braddock on Friday, sneaking past 9-7.
Mia Rivera made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tatiana Hernandez, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Jaqueline Perez-Abreu, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Lourdes Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lourdes Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
