Thomara Drummer was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Sophia Everett was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run and two runs. Lila Kim was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
San Rafael was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .526. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, Marin Catholic made easy work of Terra Linda on Monday and carried off an 18-3 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Lana Wihlborg, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Carlson, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Marin Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for San Rafael, their win bumped their record up to 12-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. San Rafael has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Marin Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
San Rafael was able to grind out a solid victory over Marin Catholic in their previous matchup back in April, winning 3-0. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
