The Fisher Gators will face off against the Pearl River Rebels at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Fisher is headed into the match having just posted their closest victory since April 6, 2024 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over University Lab.
Gabby St Ann spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Fisher saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Talyn Feicht, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Pearl River ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Springfield 10-9.
The team relied heavily on Emersen Blanchard, who went 4-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Braylyn Kelly, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.
Pearl River's victory bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Fisher, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Fisher has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .432. However, it's not like Pearl River struggles in that department as they've averaged .462. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fisher came up short against Pearl River in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 11-6. Will the Gators have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
