The Bishop Ireton Cardinals are ranked highly in their home state, and on Sunday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the Monsignor Scanlan Crusaders. Bishop Ireton took down the Crusaders 62-44. The win was just what Bishop Ireton needed coming off of a 70-47 loss in their prior contest.
Bishop Ireton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nyla Brooks out in front who scored 19 points. Brooks has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last four times she's played. Amirah Anderson was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Bishop Ireton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Monsignor Scanlan, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-2.
Bishop Ireton and the Knights will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. St. Mary's Ryken is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.2 points per game this season. As for Monsignor Scanlan, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Loughlin is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
