Softball Recap: Marshfield Has No Trouble Against Plymouth North

Marshfield barely beat Plymouth North the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rams were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Eagles on Wednesday. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by eight runs or more this season.

Sofia Blanco made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sarah McIntyre, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Riley Lanzillo was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

The victory made it two in a row for Marshfield and bumps their season record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Plymouth North, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marshfield will face off against Hanover at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Plymouth North, they will square off against North Quincy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
