The Middle Park Panthers entered their tilt with the Platte Canyon Huskies with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Middle Park took down Platte Canyon 39-21 on Thursday. That's another feather in the cap for Middle Park, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Aubree Hanson was the offensive standout of the contest as she dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Josie Nance, who scored six points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Despite the defeat, Platte Canyon had strong showings from Sydney Curtis, who scored ten points along with two steals, and Ily Hardey, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds. That was a full 47.6% of Platte Canyon's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caylie Lewis, who scored no points along with four steals.
Middle Park's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-6. As for Platte Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing KIPP Denver Collegiate the next time they take the court. Platte Canyon will host KIPP Denver Collegiate at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Middle Park will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
