The 21st Century Charter COUGARS were the 81-65 winner over the Bowman Academy Eagles when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. 21st Century Charter fell 55-45 to Bowman Academy on Friday.
Several COUGARS players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elijah Musaddiq, who scored 6 points along with 13 rebounds. Musaddiq is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Terrence Hayes was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Even though they lost, 21st Century Charter were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bowman Academy only pulled down ten.
Bowman Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lamontae Cross led the charge by scoring 17 points along with 9 steals and 5 assists. The matchup was Cross' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nickolas Black, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds.
21st Century Charter now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Bowman Academy, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
21st Century Charter will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Francis de Sales at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bowman Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Lighthouse College Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
