Cerro Gordo/Bement has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Cerro Gordo/Bement will be strutting in after a win while Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond will be coming in after a loss.
Cerro Gordo/Bement posted their biggest victory yet this season on Saturday. They blew past Heritage, posting a 52-23 victory at home. The victory was just what Cerro Gordo/Bement needed coming off of a 58-26 loss in their prior contest.
Cerro Gordo/Bement can attribute much of their success to Haylei Simpson, who scored 14 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Skye Tieman was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 46-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Arcola.
Despite the loss, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond got a solid performance out of Claire Seal, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 rebounds. Seal hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 12 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Casteel, who scored eight points.
Cerro Gordo/Bement's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8.
Monday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Caroline Hill and Seal. Hill has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 13.5 points and 4 rebounds. For her part, Seal has averaged 19.8 points, 2.4 steals, and 13.5 rebounds.
Cerro Gordo/Bement opened the new year with a less-than-successful 40-32 defeat to Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Seal, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds.
