Lake Cormorant had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 24-7 victory over Center Hill on Friday. The victory was just what Lake Cormorant needed coming off of a 33-7 loss in their prior contest.
Lake Cormorant found their leader in underclassman Joshaun Williams, who rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Olive Branch's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 49-27 loss at the hands of South Panola.
The losing side was boosted by Ethan Bobo, who picked up 95 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 139 yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Jerry Wall III, who gained 118 total yards and a touchdown.
Lake Cormorant's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Olive Branch, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7.
Thursday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Lake Cormorant has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 206.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Olive Branch struggles in that department as they've been averaging 148.2 per game. It's looking like Thursday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
