Galion is on a eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Firelands is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Galion Tigers will take on the Firelands Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Galion got themselves on the board against Marion Harding, but Marion Harding never followed suit. They breezed by the Presidents on the road to the tune of 34-0. Given Galion's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 209th, while Marion Harding is ranked 425th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Galion can attribute much of their success to Gabe Ivy, who rushed for 185 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Jimmy Hardy, who rushed for 42 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Firelands on the road against Wellington on Friday as the team secured a 27-0 win.
Their wins bumped Galion to 7-3 and Firelands to 6-4.
