The biggest upset of the week belonged to Odem, who took down 648th ranked Falfurrias, 34-7. Jake Ray ran for 169 yards in the win.
San Diego moved up to 462 from 615 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A-1 Region IV District 16. The Vaqueros climbed the ranks as a result of topping Bishop 48-6.
The Owls' dynamic duo of Hunter Rodriguez and Kirk Garcia proved tough for the Bulls to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Rodriguez threw for 38 yards and Garcia had 38 yards receiving.
Luis Lopez was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 11 carries, he ran for 221 yards as San Diego bested Falfurrias. Eddie Garza also contributed to the rushing game with 111 yards on the ground.
San Diego's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Vaqueros feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Michael Lichtenberger has thrown for 456 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Lucas Lopez has seven catches for 171 yards. Lopez leads the league in rushing with 1494 yards.
Andres Martinez's team's Ray is a mere eight yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 164 carries Ray has accumulated 992 yard this year.
A big matchup in 2A-1 Region IV District 16 this week will be when the Owls take on the Vaqueros. At the moment, Odem is in fourth, while San Diego is in first.
There should be lots of points scored when the Owls and the Vaqueros face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Odem comes in having scored 193 this season, while San Diego has scored 291. The Owls scored 34 points last week as they defeated Joe Rios' team.
The Vaqueros extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Badgers, 48-6. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
