If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Durango. Their bye week comes to an end as they meet up with Pueblo Centennial at 6:00 PM on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, Durango and Pueblo Centennial will really light up the scoreboard.
Durango got themselves on the board against Farmington two weeks ago, but Farmington never followed suit. Durango steamrollered Farmington 44-0. Senior Dawson Marcum was the offensive standout of the match for Durango, as he rushed for 201 yards and 2 touchdowns. This marked the 3rd match in which Marcum has rushed for over 100 yards.
Last Friday, Pueblo Centennial put the finishing touches on their 3rd blowout victory of the season. They put a hurting on Sierra to the tune of 44-0. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Pueblo Centennial had established a 22-0 advantage.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 3-2. In Pueblo Centennial's win, senior Bubba Rivera rushed for 130 yards and 1 touchdown and senior Brandon Roberts rushed for 87 yards and 2 touchdowns. We'll see if Durango have a strategy for dealing with them or if they lead their team to another successful outing.
