The Troy Trojans will square off against the Prairie Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Troy has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Prairie will arrive with five straight victories.
Troy fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Potlatch on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Loggers by a score of 4-3.

Dominic Holden was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. He is becoming a predictor of Troy's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is 2-1 (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Holden was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
Holden wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Payton Christensen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run. Archer Barton also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Prairie got the win against Lapwai on Monday by a conclusive 17-1. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won six games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Like Troy, Prairie also got a great game from a two-way player: Levi McElroy. On the mound, McElroy pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Kade Quintal tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, McElroy went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Quintal went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Phil Schwartz and Collin Ray did most of the damage at the plate: Schwartz went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Ray got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Ray is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Noah Geis was another key player, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Prairie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. They are 6-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Prairie's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Troy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Troy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Prairie struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Troy took their win against Prairie when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 17-7 score. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
