Ridgeview hasn't had much luck against El Paso-Gridley recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Mustangs will face off against the Titans at 4:30 p.m. Ridgeview has given up an average of 6.9 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Ridgeview lost 12-3 to Eureka on Friday. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Ridgeview saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Grice, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that Grice has launched this season.
Meanwhile, El Paso-Gridley came into Friday's game having lost eight straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over MacArthur on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Titans have posted since May 7, 2024.
Landon Raymer looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Elliott Toth, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
El Paso-Gridley picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 3-12. As for Ridgeview, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Ridgeview has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like El Paso-Gridley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Ridgeview suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to El Paso-Gridley in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
