For the first time this season, South Panola will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Tuesday. We've got a battle between Tigers coming up. They are strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Wednesday just wasn't the day for South Panola's offense. They lost 7-0 to Jackson Prep on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Charlie Bowlin was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
Meanwhile, Saltillo had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven last Saturday. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Golden Wave. Saltillo's win was all the more impressive since the Golden Wave were averaging only 3.83 runs allowed on the season.
WILSON RODRIGUEZ tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on BAYLOR ROBERTS, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. LEVIN DARSEY was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Saltillo's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for South Panola, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. South Panola has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Saltillo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
South Panola couldn't quite get it done against Saltillo in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 as they fell 10-6. Can South Panola avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
