Softball Recap: Northridge Academy Snags Eighth Victory in Last Nine Games

While Northridge Academy put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Vaughn. The Pumas were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over the White Tigers. The Pumas might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by eight runs or more this season.

Alondra Laguna and Val Montes made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Laguna tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Montes pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Laguna has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. At bat, Laguna got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Montes went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Jackie Nettles was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Jasmine Campa was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and one run.

Northridge Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 15-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Northridge Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.3 runs over those games. As for Vaughn, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Northridge Academy will take on rival Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Vaughn is set to challenge their familiar foe Fulton at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
