Hesperia and Burroughs are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Hesperia Scorpions will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Burroughs Burros at 3:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Burroughs will be up against a hot Hesperia squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Hesperia put the hurt on Serrano with a sharp 13-3 win on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Ralph Herrera made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josh Flores, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Nick Thomas, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2.
Hesperia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Burroughs hadn't done well against Barstow recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Everything went Burroughs' way against Barstow as Burroughs made off with a 10-3 victory.
Jacob Holden and Kanon Schiller made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Holden struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Schiller struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Holden went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI, while Schiller scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Jake Maduena was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Joaquin Vasquez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Hesperia pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Burroughs, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hesperia has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Burroughs struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Hesperia's way against Burroughs in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Hesperia made off with a 15-7 win. Does Hesperia have another victory up their sleeve, or will Burroughs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
