Despite the defeat, Merit Preparatory Academy saw an underclassman step up: Miles Petersen scored 19 points. Petersen is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Allan Mendonca, who scored 13 points.
American Prep WV's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Komy Ocwor, who scored 16 points along with nine assists and six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Ocwor posted eight or more assists. Brandon Argumedo was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with three steals.
Merit Preparatory Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for American Prep WV, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-5.
