While it was all tied up 22-22 at halftime, the Lansing Christian Pilgrims were not quite the Maple Valley Lions's equal in the second half on Tuesday. Lansing Christian was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 48-47 to Maple Valley. Lansing Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Maple Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Lansing Christian's loss came despite strong showings from David Hall and Ethan Damesworth. Hall dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds, while Damesworth scored 14 points along with 7 assists and 6 rebounds. Hall scored a full 53.2% of Lansing Christian's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Ayden Wilkes was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points for Maple Valley. The matchup was Wilkes 's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Carpenter, who scored 10 points along with 9 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Lansing Christian and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Maple Valley, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Lansing Christian will head out on the road to face off against Perry at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Maple Valley, they will be playing at home against Concord at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Concord will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Maple Valley is ranked 28th).
