The Lamar Silver Foxes lost against the Kingstree Blazers back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Lamar ended up on the wrong side of a rough 62-42 walloping at the hands of Kingstree. While losing is never fun, Lamar can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 288th, while Kingstree is ranked 135th).
Despite the loss, Lamar still got an impressive performance from NyShaun "Shaun" Quillen, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacari Mitchell, who scored eight points.
Kingstree's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Micheal Kelly, who scored 13 points along with three steals. The match was Kelly's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Ja'Shaun Dorsey was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Lamar has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season. As for Kingstree, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lamar won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hannah-Pamplico at 8:00 p.m. on January 11th. Hannah-Pamplico has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 184 points over their last three games. As for Kingstree, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Marion at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Marion will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
