Baseball Game Preview: First State Military Academy Bulldogs vs. Odyssey Charter Owls

The First State Military Academy Bulldogs will face off against the Odyssey Charter Owls at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. First State Military Academy has given up an average of 7.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

First State Military Academy took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Wilmington Charter, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs skirted past the Force 13-11. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bulldogs needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Jacob Porrini was a standout: he scored a run while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He also brought in two RBI, marking his first of the season. Austin Belford was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

First State Military Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .578. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Odyssey Charter's offense. They came up short against Red Lion Christian Academy on Tuesday, falling 12-0. The loss continues a trend for the Owls in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost five in a row.

Odyssey Charter saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dante Begatto, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

First State Military Academy's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Odyssey Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. First State Military Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Odyssey Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Everything went First State Military Academy's way against Odyssey Charter in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as First State Military Academy made off with a 21-5 win.
