The Spearfish Spartans lost against the Riggs Governors back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Spearfish might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 61-45 to Riggs, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Spearfish in their matchups with Riggs: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Spearfish lost, one person who can't be blamed is Seth Hamilton. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points along with six rebounds. The match was Hamilton's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Haroon Khan, who scored eight points.
Spearfish bumped their record down to 1-2 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Riggs, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spearfish and Stevens will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 21st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Riggs, they will head out on the road to face off against Watertown at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Watertown and Riggs are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
