After a string of four wins, the Elyria Catholic Panthers's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were dealt a 69-30 defeat at the hands of Centerville. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Elyria Catholic has scored all season.
Elyria Catholic's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mya Rivera, who scored 14 points, and Isabelle Niederst who scored seven points along with six rebounds. Niederst is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Camara Ogletree, who scored three points.
Elyria Catholic's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3. As for Centerville, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Elyria Catholic will finish 2023 at home by hosting Bishop Hartley at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Bishop Hartley is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. Centerville will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Olmsted Falls at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Olmsted Falls is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
