Baseball Recap: Lynn Camp Wins Going Away Against Cordia

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Barbourville, Lynn Camp was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Everything went their way against the Cordia Lions as Lynn Camp made off with an 11-1 victory. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Wildcats this season.

Ethan Curry made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Jeremiah Dixon was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Lynn Camp is undefeated when Dixon posts two or more runs, but 0-3 otherwise. Darren Campbell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Lynn Camp always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Lynn Camp pushed their record up to 3-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Cordia, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lynn Camp will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Owsley County at 6:00 p.m. on April 7. As for Cordia, they will welcome Letcher County Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Cordia's pitchers better be ready for this one: Letcher County Central has averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
