After a string of three wins, the Hendrick Hudson Sailors's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Putnam Valley by a score of 50-47. Hendrick Hudson has struggled against Putnam Valley recently, as their match on Wednesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Hendrick Hudson lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kaitlyn Raguso, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Raguso hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Alexa Robinson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five assists and five steals.
Hendrick Hudson's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Putnam Valley, their win was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hendrick Hudson will square off against Walter Panas at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Walter Panas presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hendrick Hudson in New York (Walter Panas is ranked 24th, while Hendrick Hudson is ranked 138th). As for Putnam Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge Croton-Harmon at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
