Basketball Game Preview: Seneca Bobcats vs. Greer Yellow Jackets

The Seneca Bobcats will head out on the road to take on the Greer Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Seneca will be strutting in after a win while Greer will be coming in after a defeat.

On Monday, Seneca was able to grind out a solid victory over Berea, taking the game 52-44. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bobcats.

Seneca found their leader in sophomore Savannah Weston, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Weston is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 12 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Ivey, who posted nine points and seven rebounds.

Seneca smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, 2025 welcomed Greer with a 57-37 loss courtesy of Daniel on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Yellow Jackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Lions are ranked 27th).

Seneca has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Greer, they dropped their record down to 4-8 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Seneca took their win against Greer in their previous meeting back in November of 2019 by a conclusive 66-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Seneca since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
